Hispanic Community Connection
This
is a ministry geared to provide much
needed information for the benefit of
Hispanics living in Mayfield. This is
the part of our ministry that keeps us
the busiest and allows us to make the
most contacts in our community.
We
offer basic instructions in Spanish on
how to take advantage of community
resources and provide basic community
information for people coming to the US
for the first time: traffic laws,
schools and education, utility services,
health and hospital facilities, etc.
We
serve as a liaison to various community
services by directing people to the
right places to get the assistance they
need—free medical assistance, food
stamps, clothing, food, etc.
We
offer assistance as interpreters—and
even the ride to an appointment—when
necessary. We provide translation of
documents when necessary—job
applications, school notes, INS forms
and letters, etc.
We
provide contact information for agencies
and services which are of interest to
the Hispanic community, such as the
Immigration and Naturalization Service
(INS), the Mexican Consulate, Kentucky
Legal Aid, immigration lawyers,
Commission for Children, and others.
Our
goal is to make ourselves available to
help someone in need, while building
relationships that will open doors to
share the gospel. |
