Tutoring Ministry
The
fact that most Hispanic parents are
unable to help their own children with
homework due to their own lack of formal
education and/or because of their lack
of knowledge of English, prompted us to
establish a tutoring ministry.
However, after the first session of
classes we realized that there are more
children other than Hispanics who can
also benefit from this ministry. Since
our desire has always been to give every
child a chance to succeed in school, we
have made the service available to any
child in grades 1 to 6 (ages 6 to 12).
We
have been blessed with the support and
assistance of retired teachers and
volunteers from our church and from the
community. These teacher’s knowledge and
experience guarantee that the students
participating in this program will
benefit from some of the best
instruction anywhere around.
The
tutoring classes meet every Tuesday and
Thursday afternoon. Our space is
limited, so children are accepted on a
first-come-first-served basis. Volunteer
tutors are assigned to help students on
subject matter (math, science, etc.)
regardless of grade of students.
This
is a ministry offered in conjunction
with FBC Youth Ministry.
