Exodus 15:26

Jehovah

* An English transcription of YHWH

* Known as a tetragrammaton

* The most sacred holy name for the Jews--so holy they would not pronounce it, but substituted Adonai

* In English Bibles, written in all caps--LORD or GOD

* Adonai is plural and written Lord or God

* Joshua 7:6-7

* Jehovah is described as: self-existent, eternal, infinite, and yet personal.

Jehovah-Rophe

* "rophe" means to heal

* the Lord who Heals

* implies spiritual, emotional, mental, as well as physical healing

God of Comfort

* Comfort is not found in the absence of pain, but in the midst of it.

* We would not need a Comforter if the Christian life was one of unending bliss.

* The Lord of Healing promises to comfort us. (Isaiah 66:13)
